Lobuche (4940m) and a reminder to listen to your body and instructions…
This walk was easy compared to yesterday.
I suppose I had a good rest too.
Then again, when there was a little climb I could feel the burn
and as I noticed a couple of days ago, I now need to stop a minute to recover.
If that’s the new normal and nothng worth than that it’ll be very manageable
so I’m not worried.
We arrived at the lodge and this time the room is “huge” in comparision to the previous ones.
After that joyful discovery, we learnt something less funny.
The owner let us know that in the room next to ours was a dead man and wanted to ensure we were ok with that.
I’m not superstitious so that didn’t bother me otherwise.
But we all wanted to know why.
The day before we arrived, a Polish man was travelling alone and stayed in another lodge belonging to the same owner.
As he finished his diner he walked to the counter to pay the check and just dop dead on the floor because of AMS.
They called the Police to report it but because it was late already, they could not fly over.
So they had to put the body somewhere until then.
Fortunately, the Police officers arrived shortly after us by helicopter.
After doing their report, they wrap the man in covers and put him on a ladder
so four men could carry him to the helicopter a couple of hundred meters below.
I was cautious with my water intake and headache level before but from then on I was extra careful.
