PiDP11/70: Soldering all small componants

Let’s finish all those small bits

Resuming the build

I’ve been away for a while on that trek and couldn’t bring the kit and tools along.
Which is a shame because I would have loved to geek out at this in the afternoon/evening.
It would have been a great mix of physical then intellectual efforts. :D

More diodes, resistors and LEDs

On a positive side, in the meantime I’ve found on the forum that someone has made a few awesome new build video tutorials.
See the series at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbuEtC3zfR6_wZzIT5VlK1A

So i’ll try assemble the kit in about the same 4 chumks.
I am around part 2 so let’s get all those tiny compnents all done together.

Using the new 4060 lead solder and practice on so may items has helpped my soldering skills a little.

Better joints

Still not perfect but it is a lot cleaner than the first few.

Diodes and resistors

When I started doing the LEDs it became more complicated to use the chiselled tip
because the pads on the PCB are so small. So I swapped back to the pointty tip and things where a lot better.
(I also used a multi hand with a lamp and magnifyer in some places)

in the end it went well and I’m happy with the overral solder quality.

LEDs done

I hope I didn’t burn anything or made any short circuit although it doesn’t look like it.

Next will be testing to verify that.
